3D Scan - Foot Shifter

3D Scan Foot - Shifter

Operation: A customer needs a custom sheet metal guard designed and fabricated to fit a specific dirt bike foot shifter assembly.

Issue: Customer has a relationship with a vendor that can fabricate the desired guard, however since the manufacturer is not familiar with this specific product, it was asked if a 3D scan of the assembly be provided which could be import into their cad program and referenced to design the new fabricated part.

OCD Offering: (1) With the shifter assembly in hand, OCD properly prepped the part and utilized its’ blue light metrological 3D scanner to digitally capture the entire part (see blue pic). (2) Once complete, a usable .stl file was emailed to the customer’s vendor for design reference.

Extras: As it turns out, the customer who initiated the request is located within miles of OCD. However, after they reached out to their vendor (who is in Poland!), it was this vendor that searched the internet and found OCD as a 3D scanning provider located in their area. And since it was this Polish company that was, in the end invoiced for the work, I guess this officially makes OCD a global servicing company 😉.
